To contribute to a quality framework while working as part of a devoted and innovative team in a community-based house that provides respite and holiday breaks for children with physical disabilities.

Duties & Responsibilities of Personal Care Assistant Jobs

  • Constremble the Protocol for Engaging with Families and Children as specified in the Code of Practice.
  • Support service users in engaging with their local community by facilitating their access to local resources and services and encouraging them to participate in extra-refuge house activities.
  • Permit service recipients to exercise autonomy in decision-making across all facets of their existence.
  • Perform responsibilities in adherence to Enable Ireland Health & Safety protocols, with a constant focus on prioritizing the safety of service users.
  • Assist each service user with their medication in accordance with Enable Ireland’s medication policy, keeping in mind their individual health concerns. As needed, contact a physician or emergency services.
  • Collaborate with the client to guarantee that they uphold an elevated level of personal and dental hygiene. Aid clients in maintaining proficiency in these domains.
  • Communicate with other personnel who are engaged with the service recipients, such as therapy personnel, educators, and so forth.
  • Be knowledgeable regarding the proper operation of service users’ apparatus.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by exchanging ideas and information with fellow employees. This requires attendance at house staff meetings and the maintenance of a daily log of house activities.
  • Constantly uphold elevated benchmarks in the provision of care in adherence to the policy document.
  • As required or requested, participate in external courses and in-service training. Maintain awareness of advancements in optimal methodologies and actively engage in suitable staff training and development initiatives.
  • Engage in processes related to personal development and supervision.
  • Develop and sustain positive professional relationships with both staff members and clients.
  • Ensure the provision of balanced and nutritious dishes. Whenever practicable, meal planning, shopping, and cooking should involve service users.
  • Ensure the upkeep of a sanitary, secure, and comfortable living space within the residence.
  • Maintain a homelike and child-friendly environment.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records pertaining to the continuous progress of service consumers, ensuring that confidentiality is consistently upheld.
  • Operate the minibus and vehicle in accordance with Enable Ireland’s policies and procedures governing minibus usage.
  • Perform any responsibilities specified in HIQA standards 365-367.
  • Any other relevant responsibilities.

The successful candidate will have:

Essential Criteria:

  • Complete the FETAC Level 5 Certificate in childcare or special needs or an equivalent qualification that is recognized in the field of social studies or childcare studies.
  • A minimum of three years experience in juvenile personal care.
  • A year of minimum experience working with minors aged 0 to 18 years.
  • Qualify for employment in the state.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Work experience with families and children with disabilities.
