Purpose of Healthcare Jobs in Limerick

The Care Assistant provides care for the residents in accordance with the Named Nurse model as a member of a team. The Care Assistant actively participates in the realization of Mowlam Healthcare’s care philosophy as a member of the team.

The position report is accountable to the Director of Nursing and reports to the Nurse in Charge.

What does the role entail?

  • Assisting the nursing staff and team in providing exceptional, resident-centered care that fulfills their complete care requirements
  • Getting to know the interests and requirements of residents and providing them with companionship, support, and attention
  • Assisting and supervising residents as needed to ensure optimal mobility is maintained and, whenever possible, enhanced while promoting their mobility.
  • Facilitating and supporting residents in attending to their personal sanitation and appearance requirements while upholding their dignity at all times
  • Engaging in dialogue with nurses concerning the resident’s well-being or any other facet of their daily existence
  • Facilitating inhabitants’ eating and drinking while ensuring their physical comfort
  • Engaging in, planning, and executing social activities
  • Maintaining a high level of communication between the family of the resident and the personnel in order to foster positive relationships
  • Facilitating the maintenance of elevated levels of hygiene within the domicile
  • Assisting in the preservation of domestic health and safety
  • Assigned responsibilities as determined by the Nurse in Charge and management.

What are the qualifications/skills needed?

  • In progress or completed FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare with relevant modules (or equivalent).
  • Exceptional attentiveness and communication abilities
  • Credible and competent
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively
  • Capacity to sustain an optimistic perspective
  • Proficient in both written and oral English
